Meet The Team

Emily Rice

Emily simply loves the outdoors! If you are looking for her, she is probably outside paddling on the water, hiking up a mountain or bringing her dog for a walk at the beach.

Emily is an experienced, qualified Canoeing Ireland Kayaking and Canoeing instructor.

She has also studied in GMIT and has a L8 Bachelors degree in Outdoor Education. Emily intends to continue her training and skill levels in her paddling career.

But most importantly she intends to keep exploring what Irelands beautiful coastline has to offer and sharing these experiences with other paddlers!

Tell us about one of your favourite moments.
One of my favourite memories was paddling through a Guillemot colony at the Old Head of Kinsale. IT was an amazing moment of being completely surrounded by thousands of birds as you paddle by their homes!

What do you look forward to?
I have never seen a whale while out paddling yet so maybe this summer we might be lucky enough to see some!

Stephen Strain

Stephen has always had a love for the outdoors. He found his true love of kayaking and rock climbing during his years in college.

Starting his paddling career in 2014 with GMIT Castlebar he knew he wanted to excel in this area.

After just two years he was running the kayak and canoe club in GMIT, taking the students to new rivers and bringing them to kayak competitions the other end of Ireland.

After spending his time in Castlebar he moved to Kerry where he continued to push himself on bigger and bolder rivers and in his free time taking people out on the scenic rivers of Kerry.

Stephens passion for paddling is only rivalled by his love of teaching.

After spending some time paddling the coast of Ireland, he decided to share the awe-inspiring views that Ireland has to offer and open up a paddling centre with his partner Emily in the beautiful location of Cahersiveen.

Tell us about one of your favourite moments.
There are so many of them but if i had to choose one right now it would be out running rivers with my mates. There are so many small trips I’ve done and they are all

What do you look forward to?
Simple…. Being outside on some sort of adventure, big or small, I’m happy
